Gary Brooks Bring on autumn! Hopefully you are transitioning into your fall schedule, and we hope our Chapter will be part of it. As temperatures decrease, Chapter activities increase. Our monthly meetings start again soon. Please join us at Maggiano’s on Tuesday, September 26th. The CPE options relate to retirement planning. There are also multiple SIG opportunities as well. In October, we will again be at Maggiano’s, and our tentative topics are: Does an Accounting Career Make Cents (aimed at accounting students)? Interchanges between Accountants and Lawyers. For November, we will be back at Capitol City Brewery for Sip-and-CPE in conjunction with VSCPA. This event is focused on our SIGs and previously received rave reviews. If you were unable to make it last year, we encourage you to attend. We will be at the Fairview Park Marriott for our December and January (tax update) meetings. Please visit the website for up-to-date event information. In the past, our Chapter has offered ethics twice (May and November). If there is interest, we can offer another opportunity on Wednesday, November 8th (evening in the Tysons Corner area). The cost is to be determined, but we expect it to be under $50. If at least five people email me at gary@gdbrooks.com by September 30th that they are interested, I will get it scheduled. More to follow… This is your Chapter! The shorter URL is www.ncvscpa.org. You can register for membership, register for events, and signup to get information about Special Interest Groups (SIGs). Please take a look around. So far, over 222 members have signed up. We are getting close to a goal I have for 400 plus members in our Chapter by March 2018. Refer a Friend Refer a Friend is still available to refer a friend (new member) for a raffle to enter a $50 gift card or $100 off your membership. During registration, your friend will have to indicate in the space provided that you referred them. The next drawing will be in September. A new member is someone who has not been a member in the past two years. * Current members only may be entered in raffle drawing.
