President's Letter
Hello Northern Chapter,
My name is Marcus Balog and it has been my honor to hold the role of President for the Northern Chapter for the 2023-24 fiscal year. Whether your career has a busy season or not, I’m hoping that you are able to enjoy some relaxation in this wonderful springtime weather!
Tax season concluding signals the end of our Chapter’s fiscal year on April 30th. Before it expires, I hope that you are able to attend our Virtual Chapter Meeting on April 25th. One of our sponsors, Virginia529, will teach us all about ABLE accounts. However, just as important, we will have our Annual Meeting and Board of Directors Election. Several members have stepped up as volunteers willing to work next year for the betterment of our Chapter and professional community.
Please renew your membership today! Early bird renewal rates will be in effect until May 31st. However, we are already gearing up our calendar for the next fiscal year and you won’t want to wait that long. May will bring several CPE sessions that you will be unable to attend unless you have renewed your membership. In the coming weeks, we will also announce dates for two separate Ethics sessions over the summer, hosted by the VSCPA. While they will have a small fee, they are only open for Northern Chapter members to attend. If you want to maximize your membership, now is the time to renew!
I’ve been privileged to serve this Chapter in the role of President for the past year. We have brought over 30 hours of CPE sessions to our members this fiscal year, with content from all across our profession. We were able to rejoin in person for the 2024 Tri-State Tax Update. Nearly 200 CPAs joined together in January to learn the latest topics impacting the industry. Next year, I’m excited to see how much further our group can grow.
Over the past twelve months that I have served as President, I have been proud to work with such a sincere group of professionals in our community. From both sponsors and vendors alike, nearly every piece of feedback I’ve received about our membership relays how courteous and kind we have collectively been, and for that, I thank each and every one of you. Thank you all for your contributions to further the image of our profession!
