Our Refer a Friend Program is always open (and it's so easy).  Refer a friend (new member*) and be entered for a chance to win a $50 gift card or $100 off your next year's membership.  To be entered, during registration your friend needs to indicate in the space provided that you referred them.  The next drawing is scheduled for September.

NCVSCPA Makes National News

Chapter Hosted Town Hall with Atlanta Fed President

We were fortunate to host Raphael Bostic, President of the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta, on July 13th. This was a special event for members to have the opportunity to ask questions and gain insight into current economic issues - as well as to anticipate the future. Wall Street Journal (link to article), Marketwatch (link to article), among others, published articles to update readers on Bostic's prediction that rates will increase at leasts one more time in 2018. Specifically, Bostic favors one more rate increase, while the majority on the Board indicate that there may be two more increases. As was made very clear to our members, that is subject to change as market conditions may change as well. There is no particular formula Bostic follows in making these decisions, rather, more of a "sense of momentum" of the economy.

Cordia Partners & Resources, a Chapter partner since 2016 specializing in staffing and recruitment for accounting and finance professionals, recently presented to one of our Special Interest Groups on the current market for CPAs. They shared statistics to support their assertion that accounting-based positions are in high demand, anticipating a 10% growth in accounting and audit jobs over the next 10 years.  Sector-wise, their research points to professional and business services as providing the largest projected growth during this period.  Our favorite tips from their presentation: network within your field, and pursue lifetime learning and improvement – excellent advice, which we wholeheartedly embrace as well!
